Stampin Stray Ducklings September Blog Waddle

Welcome to the September Stampin Stray Ducklings’ Blog Waddle! This month we are featuring 3D projects. You may have arrived here from Nancy Legate’s blog.  Following me is Kim Baker’s blog. Let us know what you think of these fantastic 3D projects!

I began my card using the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (#152492). The card base is Garden Green 11″ tall and 4 1/4″ wide, scored at 5 1/2″. The layer is DSP, 5 1/4″ x 4″. I cut the circle through both pieces once the DSP was attached to the card base. Cut a piece of Garden Green 1/2″ x 2″, fold it in half and bend each end half way back to the fold. This is the swing mechanism. Attach it with strong adhesive to the center, inside at the top of the card. Punch a small hole in from the fold. Cut a thin strip of Clear Window Sheet and punch a hole near one end. Put it under the hole in the Garden Green piece and attach the 2 loosely with a brad.

To make the card 3 dimensional, there is a piece of Garden Green, 4 1/2″ x 2″, scored at 1/2″, 1″, and 1/2″. Make it a W fold and attach the piece to the bottom of the back panel. Do not attach the front panel, yet. Attach another piece of DSP, 5 1/4″ x 4″ to the inside of the back panel, covering the edge of the W piece.

The front of the card has branches in Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz. The sentiment is punched and layered with the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. (#152883).

Next, using the Birds & Branches Photopolymer Stamp set (#152572) and the Birds & More Dies (#152721), I stamped the nest, birds and eggs and assembled them. I tried to color the birds as finches. To give the nest some weight to swing, I attached a second nest on the back of the front one. I added the leaves and attached them to the Clear Window Sheet piece.

I added a panel on the back for my message.

August Paper Crafting Blog Hop!

Welcome to our August Paper Crafting Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the globe! Each demonstrator is featuring a different Suite of Products this month!

You may have arrived here from Tracy’s blog. She had a fabulous project! I chose the Whale of Time Suite Collection (#154126).

The Whale of a Time Suite includes:

  • Whale Done Photopolymer Stamp Set (10% off)
  • Whale of a Time 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper
  • Whale of a Time Sequins
  • Pool Party 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon
  • Whale Punch (10% off)
  • Seabed 3D Embossing Folder
  • To order, add item #154126 to your order

Such a great value, all of the products shown above for $65.50!

I started my card on a Pool Party card base with a layer embossed with Seabed 3D Embossing Folder (#152700) after a circle was cut with the Layering Circles Dies (#151770).

Next, I adhered a piece of Window Sheets (#142314) to the back of the embossed panel. Then I surrounded the opening with Adhesive Foam Strips (#141825) making sure there were no gaps. I then added Whale Of A Time Sequins (#152461) inside the Foam Strips. I carefully pulled off the backing on the Foam Strips and adhered a piece of the Whale Of A Time Designer Series Paper (#152460) and then adhered the panel to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) supporting the bottom of the panel.

That adorable whale was stamped in Pretty Peacock and punched out with the Whale Punch (#(152699). The water splashes were punched from a scrap of Pretty Peacock. The sentiment from the Whale Done Photopolymer Stamp Set (#152470) was stamped in Pretty Peacock on a scrap of Granny Apple Green. This card will be headed to my granddaughter!

Isn’t the Whale of a Time DSP adorable?
