Stampin Stray Ducklings’ Blog Waddle

Welcome to the Stampin Stray Ducklings’ Blog Waddle for November! This month we are featuring Christmas cards. You may have arrived here from Nancy Legate’s blog.  Following me is Kim Baker’s blog. Let us know what you think of our projects!

I created my card using the Christmas Rose stamp set (#152431) from the Christmastime is Here Suite (#153947), Rose Dies (#152144), Christmastime is Here Designer Series Paper (#152154), Word Wishes Dies (#149629), Well Said cling stamp set (#3148796), Gold Foil sheets (#132622), and Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon! My colors are Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden green, and Soft Suede.

The card base is a 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White. The next layer up is also Whisper White with a 4″x4″ piece of the Christmastime is Here DSP and 2 pieces cut from the Rose Dies with a piece of Gold 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon wrapped around the layer.
Then I stamped and colored the gorgeous rose with greens and pinecones. It is adhered with dimensionals. I cut the Merry from a Gold foil sheet and stamped Christmas, from the Well Said stamp set, in Cherry Cobbler. This was cut with another die from the Rose Dies.

New Stampin’ Up! Trimmer!

Note: The new trimmer blades DO NOT fit the old discontinued trimmer and the old trimmer blades will not fit in the new trimmer.

Improvements:
(1) The metal blade piece is significantly longer than the old one; meaning it will cut deeper and more pieces of cardstock/paper

(2) The weight of the trimmer is much lighter, narrower and thinner than the old one

(3) There is an opening at the top, kind of diamond-shaped to allow it to be hung for storage;

(4) The cutting guide snaps down to hold it closed for locking instead of a slide button on the end to lock it;

(5) The extension arm does not need a “foot” to keep it steady when extended;

(6) The Extension arm, when in closed position allows paper to butt against it at the 6″ mark which is great for measuring smaller pieces;

(7) The 6″ position on the rule mark has a little arrow pointing at the 6″ line so it is very clear where the measurement is, making the jump from the board onto the extension arm easier to read for more accuracy;

(8) The extension arm locks into place by pressing down slightly and moving it into a grove at the tip of the arm near the SU logo;

(9) The “pressure lip” of the cutting guide is in a better position to prevent the blade getting “stuck” when pressing down to hold paper in place for cutting;

(10) The scoring blade has a better scoring implement on it so scoring is very smooth (you can’t event tell you are scoring!) and it gives a better score line, but is less likely to cause certain DSP to tear after scoring.

(11) I was able to cut cleanly through three sheets of SU cardstock at one time with no problem. Some demonstrators have cut through four and five sheets of cardstock at a time, but they have gone back and forth a few times. I am thrilled with three at a time!!

(12) It’s very streamlined and because of its even rectangular design it will be much easier to pack and fit into a storage space in a more compact way.

Thank you Stampin’ Up! for these 12 great improvements! And the price is great at just $25. There will be four blades in the replacement package rather than two.

Negatives:

(1) The cutting arm is in the way when it is closed, so to have anything wider than 6″ be able to lie flat on the surface, the arm will need to be extended as there is a ridge on the edge of the extension.

(2) There is no storage compartment underneath the unit.

We do not have a customer release date yet. Stay tuned.
**Remember if you don’t want to wait you can select it in a starter kit and get it now. $25 (you’ll actually get $125 in product for just $99 with FREE shipping – message me).

New & Improved says it all.

Stray Ducklings July Waddle

This month we are sharing summer/beach themed projects. You may have arrived here from Nancy Legate’s blog.  Following me is Sheryl Diemer’s blog. Let us know what you think of our projects!

I created my card using the brand ne stamp set Floral Essence (#151055) and the sentiment from Varied Vases (#146644). I used Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Old Olive. I started with the Rectangle Framelits and yes, I fussy cut the flowers, but they didn’t take very long. The leaf stamp fits the leaf punch, so no fussy cutting that one!

More Magnolias

Magnolia Blooms (#152729) $14

Stampin’ Up put 3 new stamp sets into a “beginner stamper” brochure. The Magnolia Bundle in the catalog is fabulous with the stamp set/dies. And this stamp set is a great addition if you already have that bundle or if you want just a little bit of magnolias in your life!

There is also a bundle of items to make it easy for the beginner stamper. The Magnolia Lane Card Bundle (#152868). $45.50
It includes the Magnolia Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set—6 stamps, Clear Block D, two of the 1″ Classic Stampin’ Spots, Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede, Magnolia Lane Small Memories & More Card Pack (10 double-sided printed cards) and 10 note cards/10 envelopes, and SNAIL Adhesive.

This is a fantastic kit to help new stampers get started.

Paper Crafting Blog Hop – Happy Birthday

Welcome to our Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators August blog hop! We are featuring birthday cards this month! This is the card i made for my mother to send to my daughter for her birthday. My daughter loves blue. I chose the Beauty Abounds (#148726) clear mount stamp set ($23) and used the Butterfly Beauty Dies (#151819) ($39) for the butterflies. The card base and butterflies are in Balmy Blue and Night of Navy on top of that. The card front is Whisper White, stamped in black Memento and Balmy Blue inks. The stamp from Beauty Abounds was colored with Stampin’ Blends.
