Handsomely Suited

Today’s feature is masculine-themed projects made using the Handsomely Suited Stamp Set! Speaking of masculine themes, have you ever wondered where bow ties came from? It all started long ago, during the Thirty Years War in the 17th century. Croatian mercenaries wore scarves to close their shirt fronts, and the French aristocracy spotted that dashing look on French soldiers coming home from the war. They adapted it and called the neckwear “cravats.” Over time, cravats evolved into what we know today as bow ties. Fun fact!

These bow ties are made with pretty ink, and they have been carefully stamped close together to create our own Designer Series Paper. Paper layers have been mixed and matched to create different looks, but the same size parts and pieces were used to make all three standard cards:

Basic White Cardstock: 1‑1/2″ x 1‑1/2″; 1‑1/2″ x 5‑1/2″
Smoky Slate Cardstock: 1‑3/4″ x 1‑3/4″; 5‑1/2″ x 4″
Handsomely Suited Designer Series Paper: 2″ x 5‑1/2″

We chose the striped look for these cards, but there are many manly options in the Handsomely Suited Designer Series Paper. This paper collection boasts a little history of its own: It was inspired by the shirts and ties in our creative director’s closet and includes many rugged prints and patterns.

Have fun creating cards and showing love to your favorite dads. Whether they’re nerds, sports nuts, or barbecue masters—they’ll surely love your thoughtfulness!

Lately, it’s become especially clear who the everyday heroes are—they’ve always surrounded us! Teachers, doctors, hairdressers, nurses, delivery workers, cashiers, and even our friends, kids, and family members go above and beyond to enrich our lives. These people are truly the world’s greatest at what they do!

Celebrate and appreciate the everyday heroes in your life with the August Paper Pumpkin Kit. The cards included in this kit are specifically designed for celebrating life’s champions!

Flowers for Every Season DSP

The Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper is not just for feminine cards. The reverse side features neutral simple prints to work well for masculine cards too! Try putting cinnamon cider stripe and the check pattern together for a card.

The smaller 6″ x 6″ pieces are ideal for the fronts of handmade cards, for mini scrapbook albums, and as colorful accents. I just took a class using 6″x6″ papers on 12″x12″ pages. This papercrafting designer series paper staple is great scrapbook paper, card making paper, and more!

Paper Crafting Blog Hop – Thinking of You!

Welcome to our May Paper Crafting Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the globe! Our theme this month is Thinking of You, for the men in your life. You may have arrived from Tracy’s blog. She had a fabulous project! I chose the Rooted in Nature stamp set (#148217) and paper from 2 different Designer Series Papers. They are Bird Ballad (#149592) and Pressed Petals (#149500), both from the Annual Catalog

The card base is Mossy Meadow. I pieced the 4 pieces of DSP on the front of the card and then used two circle dies for the Very Vanilla sentiment and Old Olive layered pieces. I will reveal the dimensions of the paper pieces after an upcoming Mystery Stamping free online event. The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the leaves are stamped off in Pear Pizazz. A piece of Linen Thread (#104199) behind the circles completes the card.

The insert inside the card has a column of leaves stamped in Pear Pizazz!
